Excellent opportunity for an experienced Physical Therapist with some management or supervisory experience.  This position will manage up to 18 staff members and will be a key member of the management team.  The Rehab Department does both inpatient and outpatient rehab.

Responsibilities

Manages rehabilitation programs and services for the hospital and satellite facilities, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, massage therapy, and aquatics. Oversees cardiac rehabilitation program.  Recommends and manages annual budget for department.  Researches and requests capital equipment and supplies.  Oversees scheduling of patients.  Ensures that patients are appropriately evaluated and treated.  Reviews medical records and patient charts.  Plans and implements long-term and short-term goals and objectives for the department.  Provides therapy services occasionally.  Communicates with inpatients and outpatients.  Works cooperatively with physicians, case managers, hospital staff, and adjustors.  Maintains adequate materials, records, and quality controls in accordance with hospital standards.  Accountable to ensure that federal, state, and JCAHO standards are met.  Participates in and leads hospital-wide committees.  Reports to VP, Human Resources & System Development.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in a related area.  Current license from a N.C. Board of therapy examiners.  Certifications in multiple areas preferred.  Current CPR verification.

Minimum Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements

Six (6) years of acute therapy experience in at least one of the areas managed.  Supervisory or management experience preferred.  Excellent knowledge of acceptable medical terminology and related equipment and devices.  Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership, and patient care skills.  Excellent skills in writing clear, concise, and appropriate correspondence.  Ability to work with hostile and emotionally upset people while maintaining emotional stability.  Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or department conditions.
